This camcorder is not just any other cam which one may see down the block .It incorporates the latest and newly-developed, H.264-based Advanced Video Codec High Definition (AVCHD) video format, the AG-HSC1U distributes two times the recording efficiency of older MPEG-2 codec technologies like HDV, it’s quite a thing. The AVCHD format has shored up with a number of leading companies throughout the industry.
This camera comes with HD Writer version 1.0 software to accomplish simple formatted edits as well as the capability to record onto a DVD-R for HD playback on a Blu-ray disc player from Panasonic or Sony and yes including the PlayStation 3.
More sophisticated editing software from the NLE companies is expected to be launched in the spring. In addition, Panasonic is developing a professional AVCHD recorder that is expected to be available by the end of this year. The AVCHD camcorder integrates a ¼’ 16:9 3-CCD system to deliver crisp, beautiful high definition images. Its Leica Dicomar lens system features 13 lens elements in 10 groups and 21 multi-coated surfaces. The wide angle Auto/Manual focus F1.6 lens with 43mm filter size includes advanced Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.). Its optical image stabilizer guarantees a reliable and stable acquisition in virtually every shooting environment. The lens system uses a low-dispersion optical glass for reduced chromatic aberration and distortion to produce professional-looking images. a humble $600 more than the SD1, its still worth the tag...

Apparently, guys at Nikon don’t seem to have learned anything from the big CCD disappointment in the year 2005. Like Sony, officials at Nikon have accepted that the users might find some problems with its Coolpix 5400, 5000, 4500 and 3500 shooters. Do you thing they have learned anything? Nothing at all!

The reason for the CCD malfunction is said to be “CCD soldering degradation caused by aging”. That means that the heat and moisture wears down the CCD. Now, Nikon is offering the only solution they have; free CCD replacements for sufferers.

The problem could arise in form of atypical colors, hazy images or even no images. Nikon must do something as soon as possible since the market is hot and tough too.
