Photokina 2006 will be the host for numerous imaging products including the prototype of a new E-System Digital Camera by Olympus that will take over the existing E-1 SLR model in 2007. The trend started with the introduction of Olympus E-1 camera bosy 3 years back. It has undergone a handful of upgradations including the Dust-Reduction System, full-time Live View and world’s lightest ultra compact body. At present the system boasts 5 camera bodies, 17 ZUIKO DIGITAL lenses and a horde of accessories. The new E-System dubbed as Chapter II will tend to improve the E-System body, lens, and accessory. Olympus revealed that they will be rolling out a successor to the E-1 flagship next year.

One of the most appealing booth at the Photokina 2006 is that of Canon where they have displayed its horde of imaging products. Well, we are to talk about the Canon lenses. From the very launch of the EOS camera systems, Canon has rolled out notable number of 30 million interchangeable EF lenses. At present, there are more than 50 models of EF lenses that have a focal length varying from 14mm to 600mm along with an array of macro, tilt/shift, fisheye and Image Stabilizer models. The Canon’s L series RF lenses are quite a name among the professional photographers.

Komamura Corporation unveiled the limited edition red Rolleiflex MiniDigi camera at the Photokina event that is an upgrade to the Rolleiflex 2.8F camera. The new camera is a minuscule version of the Rolleiflex 2.8F camera. The red Rolleiflex MiniDigi manages to pack a waist level viewfinder, 3-megapixel camera with a resolution of 1760 x 1760 pixels and a 0.9 inch LCD in its small palm-sized body. Well, I don’t find it a good choice with a meager count of megapixels and a small LCD display as the company touts it to be ideal for professional photographers. Anyway, the Limited Italian Red-version Rolleiflex MiniDigi has be available world-wide. The details about pricing and availability will be revealed later.
