Sharp has something bigger to compensate for now. They have developed a new 12-megapixel 1/1.7′ image sensor with 1.88 microns. But, I think they haven’t seen the fate of so many compact cameras with the 10-megapixel sensors. Now, I really don’t think you will be going for such a big superfluous pixel count with a small sensor. If some of you still love the approach, you need to wait till January when Sharp will start shipping it for ¥7,500 ($64).
