Sanyo unveiled the Xacti E1 camera recently. Unlike any other cameras this one loves to get wet. It can survive under five feet of water or in a blizzard. This cool new gizmo developed by Sanyo can withstand about sixty minutes of underwater abuse. So if you are snorkeling in the Great Barrier reef or just having fun with your family right in your backyard swimming pool, the Xacti E1 is the thing to have. Although, this is not the camera to go scuba diving with. Starting this summer you will be able to use this Camcorder.

The Sanyo cam will be released mid-June and will be priced at $500. The camera will be available in greenish blue, white and yellow colors mostly.

Sanyo has packed in a lot of neat features with this cam. For the relatively low price, you get an excellent waterproof camcorder that shoots standard definition H.264 MPEG video, which is recorded on SD or SDHC memory card.
The device compresses the video efficiently. The Sanyo Xacti E1 can fit 10 hours of video in a 640×480 format on a 8GB card with a frame rate of 30 per second.

According to the Sanyo senior marketing manager John Lamb,

It’s both a video and still camera above water and a video and still camera below water. Sanyo has created a stunning, exceptionally versatile camcorder that can be used virtually everywhere -

So, this is basically four cameras built in one.
Along with the features like Portrait mode, Digital Red Eye reduction, Quick standby, the Sanyo Xacti E1 is also equipped with Manual Focus. The Camcorder can also take 6 Megapixel still pictures. With this Xacti E1 camcorder in hand, you will be able to record all your summer fun as well as shoot stills while it’s blizzarding out.
