
Canon is rolling out camcorders, one after another. After introducing the HDV camcorders, XH G1 and XH A1, canon is now back into the scene with its consumer oriented high-definition camcorder, HV10, in order to compete the Sony HDR-HC3. The technical specification that makes it different from all the earlier camcorders is the introduction of a 1/2.7′ CMOS chip that offers noise reduction. Moreover, the CMOS technology helps to capture stills up to 2MP while simultaneously shooting video.

The HV10 boasts DIGIC DV II processor, Super Range optical image stabilization and enjoys the Instant AF system that makes use of an external sensor to boost the focusing accuracy. Other features include HV10 include a video light, histogram display, zebra patterns, and grid markers. It uses a Canon HD video lens, F1.8 - F3.0, with a 37mm filter diameter. The fully-packed HV10 camcorder is priced at $1299. No words on the availability.
